La divisione IT del gruppo multinazionale IRIS Ceramica (https://www.irisceramicagroup.com/) propone attività di tesi magistrale e di tirocinio (tramite l'azienda Graniti Fiandre Spa del gruppo convenzionata con l'Ateneo) sul tema di Industria 4.0 e sulle tecniche di Machine Learning per l'ottimizzazione dei processi di produzioni e di gestione della supply chain.

Sono previste brevi trasferte presso gli stabilimenti del gruppo in Emilia-Romagna.

Signalling and System Innovation Unit has the scope of discovering, designing and prototyping innovative solutions that can serve our customers and stakeholders. We are looking for a Senior SW & Digital Innovation Engineer who can bring us an extensive knowledge of programming languages, programming methodologies, environments and tools. Strong capability  in building software by writing code, as well as modifying software to fix errors, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces is required.

Location: Hitachi Rail ITALY – Naples, Genoa

Willingness to travel 25% of the time.

Job Description

Generate ideas and initiate processes of open innovation with our stakeholders directing and participating in programming activities, monitoring, and evaluating system performance, and designing and implementing new programs and features

Accountabilities

With regards to Digital Innovation activities / projects

• Researching, designing, implementing and managing software programs
• Tests and evaluates new programs
• Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications
• Writes and implements efficient code
• Deploying software tools, processes and metrics

• Ensure the implementation of assigned innovation projects and the relevant end-to-end coordination, prototyping the new solutions with a network of external providers and other internal supporters, in alignment with innovation guidelines and in collaboration with other technical departments.
• Ensure the capitalization and sharing of knowledge (e.g. best practice, lesson learned).
• Support the intellectual property process management ensuring patent research according to the Company identified guidelines.
• Support the Innovation Unit to build a network to grow company’s future initiatives.

Required Skills

• Ability to use one or more development language (C++, Python, Javaetc.)
• Knowledge and interest in computer systems and the latest technologies
• Capability to learn new technologies quickly
• An analytical mindset
• The ability to communicate complex procedures to other colleagues
• Commercial and business awareness
• Good communication skills – both written and verbal
• Attention to detail and desire to probe further into data

• Master degree in Computer Science
• Fluency in English language (written and spoken).

Preferred Skills

• Good knowledge of railway business environment and customers.
• Experienced in defining requirements and architectures of complex systems.
• Experienced in integration activities among several subsystems.
• Entrepreneurial mind-set, team spirit and raise the bar mentality.

Job Description

Generate ideas and initiate processes of open innovation with our stakeholders leveraging on new technologies in the field of machine learning with the following responsibilities:

• Designing and developing machine learning and deep learning systems
• Running machine learning tests and experiments
• Implementing appropriate machine learning algorithms

Accountabilities

With regards to Digital Innovation activities / projects

• Design machine learning systems
• Research and implement appropriate Machine Learning algorithms and tools
• Develop machine learning applications according to requirements
• Select appropriate datasets and data representation methods
• Run machine learning tests and experiments
• Perform statistical analysis and fine-tuning using test results
• Extend existing machine learning libraries and frameworks
• Ensure the implementation of assigned innovation projects and the relevant end-to-end coordination, prototyping the new solutions with a network of external providers and other internal supporters, in alignment with innovation guidelines and in collaboration with other technical departments.
• Ensure the capitalization and sharing of knowledge (e.g. best practice, lesson learned).
• Support the intellectual property process management ensuring patent research according to the Company identified guidelines.
• Support the Innovation Unit to build a network to grow company’s future initiatives.

Required Skills

• Proven experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role
• Knowledge of data science and software engineering
• Understanding of data structures, data modeling and software architecture
• Deep knowledge of math, probability, statistics and algorithms
• Ability to write robust code in Python
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (like Keras or PyTorch) and libraries (like scikit-learn)
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a team
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
• Master degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or similar field
• Fluency in English language (written and spoken).
